I passed all the required papers on Oct. 17. And so far, I've got NOTHING.
The trip to the Egyptian Embassy was uneventful, by the way. (Thank, God!) Apparently, they (residents in Dasma Village) are now asking the applicants to ride a van ala tram, which will stopover at each embassy in the village.
Here's the catch the "entrance-slash-fare" is one hundred fifty pesos. As in onehundredwhatthefudge!
But now that I don't have a visa yet, I would rather go through the same mess that she went through and get my visa in a week!
Let me just quote bits of Ch's entry:
The Egyptian guy is still fuming mad, and tells us to go inside. The guard's all, "No!! Wag kayong papasok!" and the guy's like, "Go in!" so the four of us were all !?!?!??!. Then biglang pinilit ng isang guy to go in and the guard physically tried to stop him!!! SWEAR ANG PSYCHO! Lumabas na yung police ng embassy (a PNP guy), who started yelling at the guard telling him he was violating a diplomatic agreement and that he was standing on Egyptian soil, which was no longer under his territory. (From Ch's blog)
I've already booked a hotel and a round trip ticket. I'm supposed to leave on Friday at 6am. This Friday. Apparently, it's not easy to reschedule flights and all. And my boss might be more inclined to just leave me here! Oh, Dear God!
I'm going to another ICANN meeting, the same meeting that I attended in Paris 4 months ago. This time, the meeting is more explosive. There are more details to what our company can do and there are more networks to build. And we'll attend a gala event at the Pyramids of Giza. It's going to be exciting!
But now I don't know anymore if I could still go. :(
To quote Lucy, "Ano'ng petsa na?" They still don't have a feedback. I've been calling and following up. They only accept applicants on MWF. And for some reason, they are on a holiday THIS Wednesday!!! Argh!!!
Darn. Sayang naman the pyramids. I wanna see them pa naman like Santiago, the boy from The Alchemist.
