Grand prize: a chance to demonstrate your musical talents in front of a live audience and music industry professionals
The Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF) aims to support and promote North American-Asian artists. While in the past our main focus had been on filmmakers, we are now officially launching a new event in partnership with Arc2 Intertainment to support singers/songwriters of Asian heritage.
The contest steps, rules and regulations are listed at the link provided. Basically, you have until August 10th, 2007 to post a video of you performing original music onto the VAFFmusic YouTube Group here:

where YouTube voters will have a chance to pick their favorite 3, and the final winner will be chosen by ARC2 judges.
Remember, the earlier you post a video, the more votes you may be able to generate!
The contest is free. All entrants will gain exposure and the notice of ARC2 Intertainment talent scouts. The winner will perform 3-4 original songs in front of a live audience and music industry professionals at Arc2 Intertainment's summer "Stripped" Benefit Charity Concert in downtown, Vancouver on August 30th, 2007.
Venue: Performance Works, Granville Island, Vancouver, Canada.

Created by The Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF), the winner of this challenge will have the opportunity to demonstrate their musical talents in front of a live audience and music industry professionals at the annual ARC 2 INTERTAINMENT'S Summer "Stripped" Benefit Charity Concert Series. To be a part of this amazing event is really simple.
Follow these easy steps:
1) Join the VAFFMusic YouTube group
2) Create your own music video to go with your own ORIGINAL song -- sorry, no karaoke please. When you're done creating a music video, upload your piece to this Youtube group. (Video does not have to be elaborate, just you singing & playing an instrument is acceptable).
3) Send the site to all your friends, family and acquaintances.
4) YOUTUBE viewers will vote on their Top 3 favourite entries. Voting will end August 10th, 2007. The Top 3 will be announced, and these participants must be able to travel to Vancouver (at their own expense) to meet with Arc2 Intertainment's event judges. The judges will determine the final winner who will be performing at this amazing event!
Voting will end midnight August 10th, 2007 (PST).
The Ultimate Prize:
The winner will get to perform 3-4 original songs in front of a live audience and music industry professionals at Arc2 Intertainment's summer "Stripped" Benefit Charity Concert on August 30th, 2007.

Rules, Regulations and Fine Print:
1) Each entry must contain 1 song only, 5 minutes or less in length. All entries must be submitted by August 10th, 2007 or earlier.
2) You and your band (if applicable) must be able to perform your song live with live musical instruments.
3) This competition is open to all amateur and professional songwriters, 19 years of age or older. Lead singers must be of Asian heritage (East Asian, Southeast Asian and South Asian). Bands must have at least 50% of its members be of Asian heritage (i.e. 2 out of 4 band members).
4) VAFF is not legally responsible for copyright infringements, downloading or sharing of your music or any other unauthorized uses. Please be aware that by uploading your music to the internet, anything posted can be used, taken, shared, etc. with and by other third parties.
5) VAFF reserves the right to choose one or more winners for participation in the "Stripped' Concert Series.
6) Entrants and their collaborators will retain full rights to all work submitted for the competition. Entry constitutes permission to use winners' names, likeness and voices for future publicity and advertising purposes without additional compensation. VAFF and Arc2 Intertainment reserves the right to extend the deadline of the competition if needed.
7) Due to a very limited budget, VAFF and Arc2 Intertainment cannot cover any of the participant's travel/accommodation expenses. If selected, any incurred expenses needed to arrive/return (i.e. transportation costs, rooms, etc.) will be at participant's own expense. This competition assumes no responsibility for travel expenses, accommodations or arrangements of winners, competitors and accompanists.
