Have also been quite busy working on my first graphic novel. Since I can't draw worth a darn (and for proof, see the segment of the first chapter at BkLovr) it's fortunate that I think I've found an artist willing to work on this project with me.

One more late night of configuring this, and reconfiguring that, and discovering a few things I once knew and had forgotten, and I FINALLY have everything working again. I can VNC and FTP to my home PC. It properly pulls programs recorded from the Tivo. It properly transfers those programs or acceptably formatted MPEG-2 files back to the Tivo. And, unlike my Kubuntu setup, it all comes up automatically after a reboot or power outage.

So, it looks like the conversion has worked out to be a net positive. While I was doing all this, I came up with a revised version of Psalm 23 that seemed appropriate:

Windows is my operating system; I shall not want.

It showeth me a desktop of green pastures: it leadeth me beside the still hard drives.

It restoreth my backups: it leadeth me in the paths of upgrades for upgrades sake.
