$675 / 1br - Nice one bedrom apt near west bank - July 1
See Craigslist ad w/pics here:
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/apa/3
32864865.html
We're looking for someone to take over our apartment starting on July 1. We need to leave because we're moving to the East coast sooner than expected, otherwise we wouldn't give it up.
It is a one bedroom apartment near the West bank, within walking distance to the U of M campus and Augsburg (seriously, it's like 5-6 blocks; takes me less than 8 minutes to get to Carlson or Rarig). Nice neighborhood, easy access to lightrail (across the street) and downtown, grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance, free lot parking (garage parking costs extra), friendly and helpful management.
The apartment has brand new wood flooring in the kitchen and dining area, disposal in sink, dishwasher, new cabinets, recent carpeting (which may be updated), central heat and A/C. One bedroom, one bathroom, lots of closet space. It is on the third floor.
The building has an outdoor pool in the center courtyard and an exercise room on the fourth floor. There are clothes washers and dryers on every floor. The management usually allows one cat, but we were able to negotiate having two. No pet deposit. (Our cats have caused no damage to the apartment.)
There is a $400 security deposit.
Please comment with questions! Happy to show the apartment.

Does anyone know where I can get fusion extensions done? I am not looking for a whole head, just an extension of the shorter pieces on top.
Thanks in advance.

I have to board my dog for about 12 days while I'm out of the country. He's a Vizsla (needs to run and play all day long) and VERY active and we don't want him to be kenneled.
I've looked at Bed and Bone and at Top Dog Country Club online.
Both are quite expensive and have come recommended. We live in Minneapolis but will drive an hour or less to take him some place we feel good about.
Any suggestions?

My bf and I will be down in Rochester this weekend and although I know that has nothing to do with the Twin Cities, I was hopeing you fine people would be able to provide some good advice (like you always do).
Anyone have any recommendations for things to, things we must see, good cheap/medium priced restaurants, etc?
We will only be there Sunday evening and Monday so we don't have much time to explore too much.
Thanks in advance!

Is anyone else in uptown being jolted from their bed every morning this week? They started the damn pile driving/steel dropping before 7am this morning. Aren't there early morning/late night noise ordinances to prevent this?

I'm thinking maybe Lickety Split but I really don't know.
TIA!

Yes, I am incredibly desperate for money. Does anybody know how to find out about participating in taste tests and other things like that? I worked at one for a temp job I had and thought it might not be a bad way to make a little extra cash. I don't know how to find out about them though.
thanks!

I need to get in touch with a lawyer who would want to take on a banking institution.
Clarification:
I need to get in touch with an inexpensive lawyer who would want to take on a banking institution. And might possibly be ambitious enough to look into a class action lawsuit with me against the same banking institution.
Any suggestions??

What the HELL was going on just a while ago (and might be still going on, I am at work now)??!?!?!
There were cops EVERYWHERE in the rectangle of about 35th Street and 19th Ave, down to 38th Street, over to 16th Ave and back up to 35th again. They seemed mostly concentrated over by Matt's Bar on 35th and Cedar, but they had out *machine guns* over by 17th and 35th. The weird thing is that even though I saw probably 40-50 cop cars in that area (it was INSANE!), they were all kind of chill about the whole thing. They were obviously watching cars, but they didn't seem to be searching yards or anything and no helicopters.
This is my neighborhood! That is freaky! WHAT was going on?!?!

anyone knows of a good class not too far from Downtown/North Minneapolis?
2007-05-14 15:48:20
So I had this girlfriend of three years. She was going to Columbia this fall for grad school and we were definitely going to make it work. I was like, madly in love. Our families both pitched in to by some dance lessons. We were going to do ballroom (hint hint!) but there are tons of other dance lessons available ("Swing, Samba, Merengue, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Mambo, Tango, Waltz, Country and more.")
Long story short, girlfriend got really caught up in the idea of moving to NYC (Sex in the City was a documentary, I guess), got scared about the distance thing, went back to our alma mater and jumped a bunch of dudes. So, no more girlfriend.
Now that you have way too much information, I really want to unload our Arthur Murray gift card. It was $400. I am trying to sell it for $300. The card ONLY works for the 5041 France Ave. S. location in Edina. It would be a great (and cheap!) gift to a couple who's likely to get engaged (assuming the card's not cursed). Reply if interested-
Chris

I just thought I'd post a quick blurb here. I'm looking for someone to rent a bedroom in my house starting June 1st. The house is located kitty corner from the VA Hospital in south Minneapolis, and is less than two blocks from the light rail station.
If anyone works off the LTR, and is looking for a place, this may be what you're seeking. Please comment, and I can give you more details.

How should Minneapolis look in 2030? What are you ideas on sustainable growth? The city wants to know. Please take the public survey located here.
Apologies if this has already been posted.

I was in a car accident recently and my car was totaled. Is there a shop or junk yard in the cities that gives top-dollar for parts? Thanks.

Hi -- I am looking for recommendations for summer yoga classes. The class rating should be beginner or easy -- whatever is best for those stiff as a board! I thought they had adult classes in Roseville but I no longer have my community book. Thanks.

What are good spots for free wireless around the Snelling/Grand/University area in Saint Paul? Coffee shops, libraries, restaurants... name it. Help me out!

Small female tortoise-colored cat found 5/11 near 44th and Lyndale Ave S. Full-grown small cat, about 6 pounds. Medium-length coat. Had on a collar w/ a bell, but no tags. No microchip was found. She's very sweet and friendly, and she is in good hands.
If you think this may be your cat, please email me at ejredden at hotmail dot com with the description of the collar, verify some of the cat's characteristics and anything that will help me determine that you are her owner. Found cat has been returned to her owner. Thank you, LJ!

Spend your time looking at art
and not for a parking space!
Traffic and parking can be a real headache during Art-A-Whirl and other Northeast Minneapolis arts events.
Wouldn?t you rather spend that time and energy actually looking at art?
The Northeast Arts District Bike Map details the quickest and safest routes into and in the area.
It even pinpoints the locations of your favorite participating artists, studios,
and galleries in the district.
And best of all, it?s FREE!
To get your free copy visit any of the participating locations
or send a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

A familiar smell can trigger stronger memories than a picture.
Our fingers can sense tiny details our eyes cannot always see.
Music and sound have been said to reach the deepest parts of the soul.
And yet, most noted artworks address primarily a visual aesthetic.
Altered Esthetics would like you think outside the visual box and
join
us as we hold a truly unique and innovative exhibition,
"Art for Other Senses."
The "Art for Other Senses" exhibition will focus on interactive artwork
developed not around sight, but around smell, touch, taste, and sound.
Special features of this exhibit include art you are encouraged to touch
and art you can smell, ?Art of Coffee? and ?Art of Wine? cuppings
and tastings and a variety of music and sound studies!
Please join us for the opening reception Friday May 4, 2007 7pm-9pm.
Altered Esthetics will be hosting a 3 year anniversary and fundraiser event
throughout the month of May which will include a silent auction and raffles.
The closing reception will be Thursday May 24, 2007 6pm ? 9pm.

Dear Twin Cities,
Can a landlord raise rent in the middle of a lease? Can he or she also change the way the utilities are assessed in the middle of a lease? My rent is going up $60/month effective TODAY (with one day warning, mind you), and utility bills used to be split between all living in the building, but will now be a flat rate each month paid to the landlord. Lease started and ends September 1st, and I am in Minneapolis. I think I should put this month's rent in escrow.

Does anyone know of a person with a 1br or efficiency for rent in a house around south minneapolis/ uptown area that would allow a TINY 4lb dog? Around 500.00-600.00 a month? I'm starting to get desperate.
Thanks!

Any thoughts on working at Caribou Coffee? I'm looking to pick up a second job and thought it might be a decent place to work. Any information about starting wage (although I do have prior cafe experience) would be awesome.
Thanks!

My wonderful roommate is leaving me from May-November because she is taking a seasonal job with the forest service in CA. We have a gorgeous sunny and large 2 bedroom near Lyn/Lake and Lake Harriet (3 blocks away). The Apartment is a large corner unit on the second floor with plenty of light, original woodwork, hardwood floors and built-ins. Rent is $487.50 plus electric, which is a great deal for this neighborhood.
Some about me - 26, student, FT professional, owner of two cats, runner, easy to get along with, not home very much, tidy, fun, respectful, likes to cook (mainly veg) ...for starters.
Please contact me if you are interested, or if you know someone who needs a sweet apartment for the summer. I?m looking for someone responsible, easygoing and queer friendly who doesn?t mind living with my two cats. The apartment is available from May 1st to December 1st but the move-in, move-out dates are very flexible? meaning if you need June-Sept or some other variation, it could be arranged.
